Zethon is an innovative medical device company specialising in the design of powered surgical cutting instruments for the neuro, spinal and ENT markets. As a partner company within the De Soutter Medical group, we also design, develop and manufacture complete products and sub-assemblies for the group targeting the orthopaedics and other surgical disciplines. The company has built a strong team of engineers with in-depth expertise in hardware and software development.
We are currently working on developing a number of ground breaking novel surgical devices in close collaboration with leading universities and surgeons.
By systematically controlling all processes from product design to manufacturing, through to sterilisation and despatch we ensure our customers receive class leading, quality products, at competitive prices.
Manufacturing and Quality
Our products are manufactured to the highest quality standards at our purpose-built Aston Clinton facility by skilled assembly technicians and test engineers.
Using advanced manufacturing techniques and continuously improving our processes, we ensure every product is produced to our exacting high standards.
This facility houses our clean room packaging plant, which processes all our sterile packed burs and irrigation tubing kits. More recently the company has invested in its own SMT (Surface Mount Devices) production line making development and introduction of new PCB assemblies much faster whilst ensuring adherence to our strict quality control criteria.
The production of all mechanical components and rotary consumables are manufactured at our Tewkesbury plant. The comprehensive range of machining capabilities include CNC turning, milling, cylindrical grinding, rotary bur grinding, honing, gear cutting, laser welding and laser marking.
Sales & Distribution
The company has established direct sales operations via De Soutter Medical in the UK, the USA, Australia, and several European countries, including Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, Austria, and the Netherlands. Other markets are serviced via a network of specialist independent distributors.

Design & Development
As a business, we strongly believe in the need for continuous investment in research and development, ensuring a constant stream of state-of-the-art products to the market. All Zethon products are designed in house by a dedicated team of highly skilled designers and engineers. The company has in-depth knowledge and wide experience in development of high performance brushless motor drives and robotic assisted surgical devices.
An example of the types of product the company develops is the Celito surgical robot.
The design teams are guided by a group of specialist clinical associates who together have many years’ experience in the development and use of powered surgical instrument systems.
